About

Connect: Resound is a pioneering digital music education project, led by youth music charity NYMAZ to enable more children and young people to receive music-making and enrichment opportunities using online technologies.

The project has worked with Music Education Hubs and arts organisations across the country since 2014 to develop a ‘tried and tested’ model of online music tuition, which is high-quality but cost-effective. Initially, the project was centred on using technology to overcome the barriers to music education presented by rural isolation. We then started exploring how our model of music education could respond to other challenges to children’s music-making, from mental health issues to excluded children.

In parallel, we launched Connect: Resound Live, a programme of online music broadcasts for children and young people. These events enable young people to enjoy live music, no matter where they live, and are accompanied by free teaching resources.

Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic spurred even more interest in online music education and we responded with an enhanced programme of free CPD training and webinars for music professionals.
